2. Does the bay rental include usage of the car lift and all tools at the bay?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Each bay includes a 2-post, ALI-certified lift with 10K Ibs lifting capacity, and a toolbox with over 1,000 tools. These, plus our diverse selection of 150+ specialty tools, are all available for you to use at no additional cost.

3. How long can a bay be rented for?

Our bays can be rented for a maximum of 8 hours and 11 hours per day, depending on day of the week.

4. What are your rates?

Accepted Answer

Each hour is priced starting at $55. Our 30-minute "Express" service, conveniently priced at $30, is perfect for quicker tasks such as oil changes and tire rotation! Take advantage of our discounted rates when you book extended sessions. Learn more here.

5. Can vehicles be left overnight?

Yes we allow vehicles to be left overnight only in special circumstances. Please see our Overnight Car Storage Terms attached. Contact us to learn more!

6. What if I need more bay time during my project, can I add onto my booked time?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, yes! We will try our best to relocate fellow DIYers booked for your bay into other available bays, allowing you to remain in the bay to complete your project. In the event we cannot accommodate extending your bay time, we will explore other options to accommodate all parties involved.

7. Does BayMasters staff perform repairs or help with my car?

Accepted Answer

BayMasters is a self-service garage — our staff don't perform repairs on your vehicle. You're the mechanic here, and we love that about our customers! That said, our team are car enthusiasts too. If you have questions about equipment or tool usage, need a tip on tackling a specific job or a quick hand with something, or just want a second opinion before you dive in, we're happy to help. At the end of the day, though, the repair is yours to own, and that's the whole spirit of DIY.

8. What if I'm done with my project early, will I still have to pay for the full booked time?

Accepted Answer

Great question! No you don't. We'll adjust your bay rental time to match your actual bay occupancy time, to the nearest 15 mins.

For example, if you booked bay time from 1pm - 3pm but then were done by 2:35pm, then you would be billed for 1 hr 30 mins. If you were done by 2:48pm, then you would be billed for 1 hr 45 mins. If done by 2:20pm, you would be billed for 1 hr 15 mins.

9. What if I go over my booked time, how will I be billed?

Booking overage charges are incurred at 15-minute increments, as follows:

0 - 14 mins over => no additional booking charges incurred
15 - 29 mins over => 15 mins additional booking charges incurred
30 - 44 mins over => 30 mins additional booking charges incurred
45 - 59 mins over => 45 mins additional booking charged incurred
60 mins over => 1 hr additional booking charged incurred

10. Are walk-ins accepted?

Yes, we welcome walk-ins between 10am - 6pm on our days of operation. Please note that the business currently closes at 6pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

11. What are your business hours?

Accepted Answer

Our business hours are as follows:

Mon - Tues: 10am - 9pm*
Wed: Closed
Thu - Fri: 10am - 6pm
Sat - Sun: 10am - 9pm*

*the business closes at 6pm if there are no booked appointments or walk-ins at or after 6pm.

12. Are kids welcome on the shop floor?

Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and their safety is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. Please note BayMasters Self-Service Garage will not be held liable for any injuries sustained by a child brought onto the shop floor area by a parent or legal guardian.

13. Are pets welcome on the shop floor?

For the safety of the pets and of our customers, pets (unless verified as a service animal) are not allowed on the shop floor. They may remain in the vehicle at the owner's discretion.

14. Is there sufficient shop floor lighting for working on projects at night?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our extremely well-lit bays provide daylight levels of brightness at night, allowing for unobstructed visibility during late night wrenching!

15. Is the bay area heated during cold winter periods?

Accepted Answer

U bet it is! We have temperature control during the cold winter periods, keeping the bay area warm for a comfortable DIY experience.

Question 16

16. Can I rent out tools for use away from the shop?

Accepted Answer

Yes, some of our specialty tools may be rented. There will be a refundable $200 tool-rental deposit applied at time of rental. This deposit will be refunded to your original form of payment upon return of the undamaged tool(s). Tool rental rates start at $10 for the first 30 mins, and then $15/hr hour after that. All tool rental services are available in-store only, and are not available online. Please see a BayMasters associate for help with tool rentals.

17. Does BayMasters collect and dispose of fluids?

Accepted Answer

Yes, BayMasters will provide catch cans for collection and disposal of your oil-based fluids (e.g. engine oil, brake fluid, diff fluid, trans fluid). BayMasters does not collect or dispose of any coolant-based or petroleum-based fluids. Please bring your own collection/disposal cans for such fluids. An example of such a collection can is provided below for your reference.

18. What happens if I'm not done with my project by the time BayMasters closes for the day?

Accepted Answer

Great question!

In the event you're not done by the time our shop closes for the day, we recommend that you close out the project and return on the next business day to continue. In the event your vehicle cannot be driven out of the bay, you will have the option to:

1) have your vehicle moved out of the bay by use of car dollies, and positioned outside the building until you're ready to return and work on it on our next business day. Please note vehicles cannot be left outside our premises indefinitely, and will be subject to towing. 
2) leave your vehicle in the bay, at which time your bay rental clock will be stopped and you will close out payment for that day. You will not be charged an overnight storage fee since you were here until the close of business. A new appointment will be created for you starting at 10am the next business day, and your bay rental clock will resume at 10am on this day whether or not you're back here to work on the vehicle, and continue until you're done with the project.

A BayMasters associate will be ready to assist and guide you through your options!

Question 19

19. When does the clock start for my bay appointment?

Accepted Answer

The clock starts at the beginning of your bay reservation time, which will coincide with the time that you are guided into your reserved bay by a BayMasters associate! We ask that you arrive 5 mins prior to your scheduled appointment time to complete all necessary bay pre-entry procedures, and to allow BayMasters associates time to get you setup in your bay. In the event you arrive extra early or late for your appointment, we will do our best to accommodate you by adjusting your bay reservation and bay entry time to align with your revised schedule, however this accommodation is not guaranteed.

As a courtesy, the BayMasters staff will help with getting your vehicle set up on the car lift. Please note that the time required for this courtesy activity is inclusive in your scheduled bay time.

20. When does the clock stop for my bay appointment?

The clock stops when you've completed your car DIY project and all used tools/equipment have been wiped down and returned to their designated locations.

21. Can I redeem my BayBucks the same day I earn them?

Accepted Answer

Points earned during a visit are available to redeem starting on your next visit — they can't be applied as a credit or refund toward the session that earned them. Think of it like a gift that's ready and waiting for you next time you come in! Your points never expire, so there's no rush — they'll be right there when you need them.

Question 22

22. Why do my BayBuck points earned not match the total amount I paid?

Accepted Answer

BayBuck points are calculated based on the face value of your service, not your total invoice. Since taxes are collected on behalf of the government and don't reflect the cost of your bay time, they're excluded from the points calculation. For example, if your session costs $55 before tax, you'll earn 55 BayBucks regardless of what the final total looks like after taxes are applied.

23. What happens if my prepaid package expires with hours remaining?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, unused hours cannot be carried over once a package expires. We encourage all customers to keep an eye on their expiry date so you get the most out of every package you purchase.

That said, we understand life happens. If you find yourself in this situation, reach out to us directly and we'll do our best to work something out. We can't make any guarantees, but we're always happy to have a conversation.
